Well have been incognito for a couple of days. No service on my phone and no internet connection. !!!!'
The site we are on is in the middle of a wood and think they still use pigeons to carry messages !!!! Anyway back now It was really nice weather during the day but the nights are getting really chilly. So we have decided to head inland and back up towards Normandy. If it then gets cold all the time not far to the tunnel and the gas central heating of home. But not just yet Still have places to go and places to see
We have had a little disaster The freezer compartment door hinge has broken but if I am careful, think we can get it back home. Don't want to buy a complete new fridge so hopefully we might be able to get just the door part. Don't fancy trying to get one here in France with my limited French. I get by but trying to get parts.....errrr non hehe
We arrived in Fougeres today. Great Aire right opposite the Chateaux Weather is warm enough to walk around in teeshirt and we walked through the Haut Ville. Modernish part and the medieval part of the town. They have some great public parks that take you from Haut Ville which is at the top of the hill down to the medieval part with its half timbered houses. It is well worth a visit. There is a bell tower that was built some 600 years ago and had rung out the hours ever since. Hope it's not too loud tonight !!!! I did take a picture from our site and as you will see it's a fair distance from us I hope !!!
Oh forgot to mention... Poppy had her birthday on 5th October... she is now a Grand Dame.... 10 years old and loving this life She is sniffing new smells spending more time with us and loves the walking. She does not like it when we leave her but suffers it...lol
Today saw us back in Normandy. We stooped on an Aire in Avranches. It was close to town and also the Carefour supermarket, which was great. Well not so great as the site was on a slope and it not only sloped front to back but back to front..... we spent hours with the levellers trying to get the van right... but we ended up with a slope side to side... Graham said he felt like Eddie the Eagle on his skis....deffo difficult Felt like one of those Houses of Fun at the fair ground. We coped for one night but moved on this morning. A bit about Avranches. It has a medieval walled bit with a museum with manuscripts from Mont St Micheal and also was part of the liberation of France by General Patton (he seemed to have done a lot in this part of the world) We went for a walk around the town and it was bright sunshine but a cold chill to the air. We found Graham a British newspaper and he is devouring newsprint as I type. Also Carefour had special offers on Whiskey and Beer so a couple of trips there today and should see us out for the rest of this trip.
Oh the map is very out of date... lost track of where we have been and when... but will update when I have time to read this blog...LOL
